There’s Only One…Charley Williams!

He’s faster than a speeding bullet, stronger than a locomotive, and able to support his wife’s Initials, Inc. business making him a true Initials, Inc. Man. Meet Charley Williams, husband to Creative Director, Sheri Williams from North Carolina. “I love telling people how proud I am of my wife, how successful she is, and how much money she makes,” shares Charley.

“When she first talked about Initials, Inc., it was a serious crossroads for us. I remember thinking ‘Are you kidding me?’ My first reaction was not very supportive,” admits Charley. Sheri couldn’t shake the potential and brought it up again a week later highlighting to Charley that Initials, Inc. was a relatively new company with beautiful products and fantastic opportunities for leadership and incentives.

In July of 2009, Charley and Sheri Williams owned a local tanning salon but fell victim to the recession. Sheri had just gone back to work as a licensed insurance adjuster working full-time. Charley, a full-time fireman with the Raleigh Fire Department, also held a part-time job to make ends meet.

“I always needed to transport a change of clothes in a bag with me to the firehouse,” shares Charley, “Sheri purchased me an Initials, Inc. bag, and I was impressed with its quality and durability.”

However, it was the change in his wife that won his support. “Knowing Sheri’s personality, I was confident that she could sell anything she wanted and become successful,” shares Charley. Sheri states, “my original thought was that I would launch my Initials, Inc. business to take advantage of the incentives offered through the 90-day Smart Start program for new Creative Partners and to make a little extra money for Christmas, but the business blossomed.” With a thriving Initials, Inc. business, Sheri was able to quit her full-time job in June 2010.

During the first Initials, Inc. incentive cruise in December 2010, Charley realized how important his role as a husband was to the success of his wife’s business. “During the cruise, Joy Pratt, Independent Executive Creative Director with Initials, Inc. shared that her husband, Ron, keys in orders and stuffs envelopes,” shares Charley, “and I knew I needed to step it up.” Charley was also impressed that Co-Founders Britney Vickery and Ivy Hall networked during the cruise with the Creative Partners like they were family.

Charley shares, “On the final day of the cruise, Britney Vickery asked all of us to share what we were thankful for. When it was my wife’s turn to answer, she had this look on her face, and I knew this business had positively changed her.”

Sheri’s strength is her persistence. She grabs hold of something she is passionate about and doesn’t let go or waiver until it is hers. “The harder she works, the more the business rewards her,” admits Charley. A dutiful husband, Charley and Sheri have developed a routine. On the nights that Sheri returns from a party and falls exhausted in the bed, Charley kicks into action. He unloads her product display and business supplies and fills her car up with gas.

<a href="http://initials-inc.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/my-initials-inc-man-2.jpg" rel="lightbox[5428]" title="Charley Williams, The Initials, Inc.

“Sheri’s love language is words of affirmation. I try to encourage her and share how proud I am of her. I also shoot her texts throughout the day reminding her of my support,” states Charley. He respects his wife’s business because he sees the confidence if affords her and the impact it has on their three children. Their youngest son was struggling with learning to ride his bike. Sheri patiently worked with him for ten minutes, and he finally got it. “Sheri’s business has allowed her time to be a stronger mother,” shares Charley.

During the past year, Charley has been able to give up his part-time job that he has held during their entire sixteen year marriage and received a gift of a new pick-up truck. “The firemen tease me at work saying that I need to keep my truck clean and treat it well as it was a gift from my wife.”

In five years, Charley and Sheri hope to be more financially stable, in a newer house, with 1 kid in college. “I have enjoyed him being home more as he has accomplished several ‘honey-do’ lists, fixed car, and is planning several summer activities for the family,” shares Sheri.

There’s only one Charley…a true Initials, Inc. Man!

What’s one piece of advice you would love to give other Creative Partners who would like to promote to Creative Leader too? If you want Initials, Inc. to perform like a business for you, you must treat it like a business.
Join in our celebration of achievement! Initials, Inc. has been awarded the 2013 ETHOS Category Award for Personal Development/Motivationby the Direct Selling Association (DSA). The award was formally presented to Initials, Inc. President and Co-Founder, Britney Vickery on June 11 at DSA’s 2013 Annual Meeting Awards Gala in Phoenix, Ariz.

Initials, Inc. was recognized for Boot Camp 2012 – Operation: SPARK! – a professional development program with a high level of accountability stemming from 12 weekly challenges to accelerate growth in sales and record improvement. Boot Camp ran April 2-June 30, 2012 with 47% of the entire company ‘enlisted’ and was the catalyst for their 62% growth in the leadership team, an overall 71% growth in new Creative Partner enrollments for 2012, and a 134% growth in commissionable sales revenue during the months of April, May, and June 2012.

“We are truly honored to be recognized for our Boot Camp program,” states Britney Vickery, “This was truly a game changer for our Creative Partner network and our company as June 2012 yielded the highest sales revenue month in the history of the company.”

ETHOS Awards are given annually to DSA member companies with programs that empower independent direct sellers and fuel business processes. ETHOS Award entries are judged by a panel of industry leaders and outside experts. Criteria for the judging of the award are specific to each category with an overall focus on excellence, creativity and innovation in the direct selling industry. “Receiving a DSA ETHOS Award is a testament to the commitment a company has made to being a model for the highest standards in business practices and ethics,” said DSA President Joseph Mariano. “I congratulate this year’s winners on their achievement.”

A complete list of 2013 ETHOS Award winners and more information on judging criteria can be found at http://www.dsa.org/about/awards/dsa-awards/index.html.

Congratulations to Sandi Falloon for her recent promotion to Creative Director with Initials, Inc. With a great sense of leadership and love, Sandi has propelled her business to the next level. Here’s what she has gained through this journey:

Q: When you were first starting out what insight would have been helpful to know?

A: I think about this every now and then. Coming from another company, I already had knowledge of direct selling and skills that helped. However, learning that it isn’t what others are doing for me but that I was providing opportunities for them is key. In the end, everyone gets something they want.

Q: What are the greatest joys you have gathered from your business?

A: The friendships I have built with amazing people all across the country is one of the greatest joys to me. I am also blessed to show my children that even though I don’t have a full-time job, I take work seriously and have a strong work ethic. Finally, I am a different person than I was eight years ago. I used to be content to sit in the back of the room and never speak due to worry, panic, and low self-esteem. As I have learned what can be possible through my Initials, Inc. business, I have grown as an individual, gained more confidence, and found a joy in sharing.

Q: It takes courage, tenacity and a tremendous amount of effort to get to this point. What would you say are your greatest two strengths?

A: My two greatest strengths are my work ethic and patience. I have learned not to worry so much about the timing. Eventually, if I work hard at what I want, my dreams will come. My motto is ‘In God’s timing.’ Embracing this promise helps me deal with frustration and have patience for the right timing to arrive. My work ethic and patience are key ingredients to my success.

Q: 2013 is all about Becoming. What attribute would you like to improve in 2013?

A: It is interesting that the theme of this year’s National Conference is BECOME. Last year at conference, I stood up to discuss how I earned the trip through iRewards. The word BECOME kept popping into my head. BECOME means getting rid of your big ‘but’ and move forward. Whatever the obstacle is in your way (the ‘but’), move past it and BECOME what you were meant to BECOME! When you say ‘but,’ you are preventing yourself from being successful. I choose to use the word ‘when.’

Q: What do you enjoy most about the Initials, Inc. Party Experience?

A: I gear my parties towards the hostess and her guests. Since there is only one me, I can conduct parties on my terms. I enjoy flexibility and creating a party that the hostess hoped it would be.

Q: There are so many incredible individuals within the Initials, Inc. family. Does one person in particular stand out for you?

A: When I think about how I started out in this business, I reflect on Britney and Ivy’s story. They were at the same crossroads I was and decided to take it a step further by offering it to other women. In 2008 and 2009, my family was in the process of losing my sister to cancer. I will never forget when Joy Pratt, Kari Fitzgerald, and Aimee Armstrong reached out to ask what they could do to help. It wasn’t because their actions benefited them in any way, They did it because they care. These are ladies that I will call friends forever.

Q: They say ‘laughter makes the world go round.’ What makes you laugh?

A: My husband, kids and I are always laughing. It doesn’t take much for me to laugh. The Initials, Inc. Leadership Team is a fun group where I enjoy laughing as we review our mistakes and look forward.

Q: What is your one guilty pleasure?

A: I love getting out a jar of peanut butter and a Hershey’s chocolate bar – dipping it in and creating magic. I have also taught this to my kids.

Q: What does your husband think about your business and how does he support you?

A: When I first joined Initials, Inc., I came from another business that folded. As I am not a purse person, my husband first questioned, “you want to sell purses?.” He was, however, excited that this was unique that no one else in our area was selling it. Since he travels a lot, we coordinate our calendars which works for us. When I need help, he and our sons put on their Initials, Inc. shirts and help out. Earning the first cruise a few years ago was the affirmation he needed. It helped show him that this is more than a paycheck – it is an experience. He actually has made some great relationships with spouses of other Creative Partners and looks forward to socializing with them. He is totally on board. I am blessed!

There’s only one…Sandi!

With tenacity and passion, great encouragement will always result. Congratulations to Mandy Holder for her recent promotion to Creative Director with Initials, Inc. Here’s a look into her dedication:

Q: When you were first starting out what insight would have been helpful to know?

A: I had a slow start during my first year, and I wish I knew to work my business daily. The consistency of working my business daily is what allowed me to grow and create something wonderful. I didn’t realize at the time that it takes cultivating this habit to grow. Boot Camp 2011 really helped shape my mentality of a daily focus.

Q: It takes courage, tenacity and a tremendous amount of effort to get to this point. What would you say are your greatest two strengths?

A: I feel that my two strengths are recruiting and encouraging. I believe in the business opportunity and the company. Recruiting is something I am passionate about. I know that ultimately I can help other women meet so many needs from financial to personal development. This business has answered so many prayers for me personally, and it can do that for others as well. I enjoy encouraging women including my team.

Q: What do you enjoy most about the Initials, Inc. Party Experience?

A: I love making connections with all kinds of different women. I enjoy meeting those who I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to meet if it weren’t for my Initials, Inc. business.

Q: There are so many incredible individuals within the Initials, Inc. family. Does one person in particular stand out for you?

A: Denise Larrabee, Senior Creative Leader (NY), because she has the sweetest spirit and is truly adorable. She is always friendly and shares her fantastic smile abundantly. People like Denise are always positive and leave an impression on those in their path. I respect her greatly.

Q: They say ‘laughter makes the world go round.’ What makes you laugh?

A: My family is always making me laugh; especially the words my three-year-old shares with me. You never know what to expect.

Q: What is your one guilty pleasure?

A: This is a hard question to answer. I would say anything with chocolate. It is truly my weakness.

Q: What are you looking most forward to at National Conference 2013 BECOME?

A: I am looking forward to visiting with team members that I have not yet met in person. I am really looking forward to our team time.

Q: 2013 is all about Becoming. What does that say to you?

A: BECOME to me is all about growth and success. It is the ability to grow your business to any level you desire.

There’s only one…Mandy!

What is in an initial?

Did you know? Monogramming is an art dating back to the wealthy aristocrats of old. Though there aren’t official guidelines to monogramming, there are many common practices we, here at Initials, Inc., like to follow:

Single Person Monogram: This one’s for our bachelors and bachelorettes. The first initial of the first name is placed on the left, the first initials of the surname in the center, and the first initials of the middle name on the right. For example: If your name is Katelin Hannah Brewer, your Monogram would read: KHB with the surname initial in the center appearing slightly larger.

Same Size Lettering: This style is perfect for gifts given to an individual. Similar to monograms for a Single person, we always start with the the first initial to the left, middle in the center, and last initial to the right. For example: If your name is Rachel Erika Abernathy, your monogram would read REA with each initial appearing the same size.

Mrs. Monogram: For our married women, we often incorporate her maiden name into the sequence. The Surname is placed in the center once again, her first name initial is placed to the left and her maiden name initial is placed to the right. This is dependent on the woman’s preference is more unique in appearance. For example: If your name is Jocelyn Renee Knight Sanderson, it would appear JSK and the surname initial in the center would again appear slightly larger.

Mr. and Mrs. Monogram (Traditional): For our lovebirds, we try to include both the man and the woman’s initials. To convey unity, the woman’s first name initial is placed on the left, the man’s first initial on the right, and the couple’s surname initial in the middle. For example: If you and your spouses names are Karen and Riley Harrison, your monogram would appear KHR with the surname initial in the center appearing slightly larger.

There’s only one you! Monograms are not just for the wealthy anymore. Branding one’s initials can be fun (i.e., napkins, bracelets, rings, cufflinks, ties, purses, glasses pillows, stationary and mailboxes). Monogramming is a fun way to express the unique style of the individual. Be bold and break away from traditional monograms by using a word that expresses a personality trait or describes the purpose of the product. The key is to have fun with monograms and reflect your own unique personal style. As with any art form, conventions and the methods are always evolving. We at Initials, Inc. celebrates the fact that…There’s only one YOU!

Congratulations to Christa Rubino for her recent promotion to Senior Creative Director with Initials, Inc. Enjoy this sneak peek into Christa’s business and life in this May 2013 interview!

Q: When you were first starting out what insight would have been helpful to know?

A: There are so many incredible resources and tools available to Creative Partners. I wish I took more advantage of them earlier in my business and leveraged them to book parties, coach hostesses, increase my personal sales volume and recruit new team members. While my business took off quickly, I see now how it could have been so much more if I had taken the time initially to learn. Today, I use the resources to BECOME more purposeful and strategic in my business. The support Initials, Inc. provides outweighs any other company’s efforts. The resources are there – ready and waiting – to assist you.

Q: It takes courage, tenacity and a tremendous amount of effort to get to this point. What would you say are your greatest two strengths?

A: My husband taught me the art of listening. There is strength in silence and an empowerment when you allow others to be heard. I used to contemplate my responses while listening to others which often prevented me from truly hearing and building a connection. Listening fully to others has helped me BECOME a stronger leader as I can connect with my team quicker and relate to them on a deeper level.

My second strength would have to be enthusiasm. You have to be enthusiastic and fresh in your business. I genuinely love my Initials, Inc. business. I am thrilled when a new bag debuts or a new incentive is announced. It is easy to get bogged down in the minutia of this business if you are not careful. I find that my enthusiasm is contagious as my team has the same positive outlook and rises above the craziness that happens when your business becomes hectic.

Q: 2013 is all about Becoming. What does that mean to you?

A: I was very excited because BECOME means possibilities. I remember receiving a phone call from Britney Vickery during my first month with Initials, Inc. I didn’t know anything about direct selling, and she encouraged me to dream crazy. I found it empowering that anyone can BECOME anything they want. In most corporate environments, you have obstacles or processes that prevent you from becoming. With Initials, Inc., I know I can BECOME the mother I want to be and the successful business woman who picks up her children from school each day. For me, BECOME is special as I plan on quitting my job in June which is amazing. You can truly BECOME whatever you want to be.

Q: What do you enjoy most about the Initials, Inc. Party Experience?

A: I can always find someone with whom I can really connect and feel like I just met a life-long friend. I enjoy connecting with others. It is very cool to go to work and visit with other women who I would have never met through normal channels. I don’t think many people have that opportunity when they go to work.

Q: There are so many incredible individuals within the Initials, Inc. family. Does one person in particular stand out for you?

A: I have watched Britney Vickery evolve in so many ways throughout this process. I see her as a beacon for the field in terms of the direction she is steers our company. The way she speaks, carries herself, and addresses conflict is a gift.

Watching Britney is like watching a flower bloom. She truly is an inspiration to me. She is one of the reasons why I love my job and have built relationships with my team. She has demonstrated the caliber of relationships necessary to make the business personal. I have taken her leadership example and incorporated it into the leadership I provide my team. Relationships are key to my success, and Britney taught me the fine art of relationship building.

Q: They say ‘laughter makes the world go round.’ What makes you laugh?

A: I laugh constantly at my kids, and the unique things they say on a regular basis. I have two boys, 12 and 5, and a daughter, 11, who keep me laughing daily. My youngest is apparently used to being around older kids and comes up with the funnies sayings that are always in context.

Q: What is your one guilty pleasure?

A: There are so many, but currently I enjoy Candy Crush and have a small addiction to Scrabble.

Q: What is something that Creative Partners who meet you initially might not know?

A: I graduated magna cum laude from Columbia University with a double Masters degree, and I choose to sell Initials, Inc. instead.

Q: What are you looking most forward to at National Conference 2013 BECOME?

A: Walking down the catwalk during the Fashion Show and watching 1,000 amazing women’s mouths gape open as they see the amazing Fall & Winter 2013 line for the first time. It will be a priceless experience.

There’s only one…Christa!

Congratulations to Maggie Benevento for her recent promotion to Creative Director with Initials, Inc. Her strength and determination fueled Maggie’s success. Here’s how she did it.

Q: When you were first starting out what insight would have been helpful to know?

A: I didn’t recruit until a year into my business. It intimidated me at first. I feel like I lost out on a year’s worth of time in building my team. Therefore, I wish I knew that you have to put yourself out there to grow!

Q: It takes courage, tenacity and a tremendous amount of effort to get to this point. What would you say are your greatest two strengths?

A: I think my strengths are the party experience I create and my ability to book parties. My parties are very relaxed and fun. The presentation is never scripted, and I cater my presentation to the hostess and guests in attendance. I also keep it brief, approximately 20 minutes, and make it more of a shopping experience. My parties are very interactive. People leave expressing how much they enjoyed themselves and ask how they can host a party.

Q: Tell us one thing that makes you successful?

A: I never give up. Seeing the potential in my Initials, Inc. business, avoiding frustration when the Townie in iKat is sold out, and maintaining the ability to laugh and not take things too seriously are my success strategies. I mean, it’s never the end of the world. People give up too easily. You have to persevere.

Q: There are so many incredible individuals within the Initials, Inc. family. Does one person in particular stand out for you?

A: I did not start my Initials, Inc. business to make friends. I wanted to make money in order to help support my family. What has surprised me the most is the friendships I have gained and the support these friendships provide. The friendships I have gained with Christa Rubino, Molly Polacek, Marlana Farris, Kim Briese, and Joy Pratt for instance have been amazing and inspiring. I am constantly surprised with the support I receive from Creative Partners across the country regardless if they are on my team or not. One of my favorite moments was a dinner my team held during Leadership Conference. We laughed so much that my face hurt.

Q: They say ‘laughter makes the world go round.’ What makes you laugh?

A: I love those e-cards posted to Pinterest and Facebook. I am the girl laughing in gift shops as I read the witty sayings on napkins, magnets, and greeting cards.

Q: Speaking of laughter, what makes you laugh?

A: I have to admit that I love shopping on QVC. I don’t necessarily buy the products, but it helps me with my Initials, Inc. party presentations.

Q: What are you looking most forward to at National Conference 2013 BECOME?

A: I am really looking forward to hearing Dr. Gloria Mayfield Banks present. She has a really good message! Going to conference is like being an audience member on the Oprah show – you get inspired, you get motivated, and you get a free bag. It’s great!

Q: 2013 is all about Becoming. What does BECOME mean to you?

A: When I heard this year’s National Conference theme, my first thoughts were what my Initials, Inc. business has allowed my family to BECOME. I feel the word BECOME is reflective as well as forward thinking. If I didn’t order the starter kit and put myself out there, I wonder what my life would have BECOME. I reflect over the past three years with Initials, Inc. and am excited about what my life will BECOME in the future.

There’s only one…Maggie!
